My entry into Triathlons started with a challenge from a work colleague to complete the Kingscliff Sprint Tri, a couple swims later in the pool and I realised I was going to need some help.
Google led me to South Bank Tri Club and with good timing they were just about to start their 6 weeks beginners course with Coach Simon, I loved every moment of this course and how it catered to all ability’s. The 6 weeks flew by and before I knew it was time for us beginners to graduate at Raby Bay Round 7 and I was hooked.
Training with the club was going so well I decided to skip the Sprint and complete the Olympic at Kingscliff finishing in 2:36. On the drive back I was 95% sure I wanted to complete the 70.3 Ironman up on The Sunshine Coast.
I decided I was again going to need some help for this 70.3 so I booked in an individual coaching plan with Simon to get me there, Simon’s plan was tailored to my abilities, time availability and also focused on areas that needed some extra work, as the weeks passed by my goal time got faster and faster and I settled on under 6 hours.
Race day was amazing and I finished up at 5:41, I’ve signed up for 2020 70.3 and I’ll be back with another coaching plan and a sub 5:30 goal.
I highly recommend SBTC coaching to anyone looking at getting ahead of the pack.
