This weekend is another big one on the SBTC calendar, with many club members taking on the Sunny Coast Ironman 70.3 this Sunday at Mooloolaba. In a great representation of the SBTC ‘all inclusive’ spirit, we have a number of first timers at the half iron distance, going out there with the goal of just getting to the finish, as well as a few people with podium chances and all sorts in between! Taking on the individual event are:
Jake Bartholomaeus, Chrissie Bowie, Paul Burnham, Bianca Cairns, Jason Cameron, Joshua Campbell, Fatima Castillo, Rod Dixon, Thomas Fordyce, Mark Foster, Luke Gilmore, Chris Goakes, Cameron Hinde, Scott Hodder, Jason King, Dean Lacheca, Steven McClure, Eddie Mills, Georg Neamonitakis, Patrick Nispel, Tim O’Sullivan, John Redondo, Chris Russell, Kirsty Shaw, Alan Verkerk, Sarah Willmore and Susie Wilson
In the teams event ‘Bite My Banana’ includes Emma Sunley and Sarah Roper, CaMelHam includes Mel Christensen, Chris Hamilton and Cameron Staib, ‘The Fast and the Fractured’ includes Jess Schaffer, Kim Wordsworth and Bec Edwards; ‘This Ain’t Easy…But We Are’ includes Guy Smith, Sara Wodyk and Juan Beltran.
If you are competing or just up the coast supporting, don’t forget our traditional Saturday Morning bike roll out – As per tradition the Green Army will ride down to the Sunshine Coast Netball Association Grounds on the Saturday prior to the race. It’s a 16km out and back pedal whereby you can test your bike equipment one last time. Riders will meet at Loo with a View at 7am and for those in need find a coffee shop or two able to take the group afterwards.
On raceday we have been allocated a great spot for the tents, up near the top of the hill where we have lots of chances to cheer your club mates on multiple bike and run laps. We have the BBQ, (no promises but if you forgot to buy a ticket in time email Sara on social@sbtc.com.au and she will see what she can do…). And last but not least, we could still use a couple of helpers during raceday – if you are keen to do a bit of cooking or something similar, email Mark on raceday@sbtc.com.au.
We have a stash of our fabulous SBTC temporary tattoos, if you want one to complete your green army outfit come along to the SBTC tent either during setup at 11am on Saturday or again at 4pm on Saturday.
Best of luck to everyone having a crack – will be a great day!
