Weekends Results (Kona / Raby Bay / Melbourne Marathon & SEQTRS / Kipchoge Breaks 2hrs)
Another great weekend of racing was had by the SBTC crew and who will never forget the effort from Eluid Kipchoge to run the first ever sub 2hr marathon.
From Kona to Raby Bay QTS to Melbourne Marathon it seems we had all bases covered.
Here’s a quick summary
We had our very own President Matt Thompson competing alongside last years TOTY winners Sean (Richo) Richardson & Kirsty Sheehan on the Big Island.
Great results were had and we can’t wait for the race reports…
Sean – 9:31:33 – 54th (M35-39)
Matt – 9:34:53 – 58th (M35-39)
Kirsty – 10:48:56 – 16th (F40-44)
Non-triathlon related but we had some of the SBTC crew head south and take on the Melbourne Marathon too
Jack – 2:59
Aran – 3:16
Khloe & Mark – 3:33
And a little closer to home Fatima headed bush to take on the opening race of the SEQ Trail Running Series
As what is considered “our local” SBTC crew headed down to the lovely marina at Raby Bay for some racing action as well
Michael – 1:25 – 2nd M55-59
Juan – 1:26 – 11th M35-39
Chris M – 1:28 – 4th M55-59
Susie – 1:30 – 4th F35-39
Roy – 1:36 – 2nd M65-69
Brodie – 1:36 – 3rd MClydesdales
Steve M – 1:38 – 9th M55-59
Sally B – 1:39 – 6th F30-34
Alexandra P – 1:40 – 7th F30-34
Nicola D – 1:47 – 3rd F55-59
Karen – 1:50 – 5th F45-49
Megan H – 2:06 – 15th F40-44
Andrew – 0:57 – 3rd M50-54
Graham – 1:07 – 8th M55-59
No one will forget this weekend in a hurry, not only did we have some stellar results but Eluid Kipchoge managed to be the first person in history to run a sub 2 hr Marathon. To put that in perspective that is running a sub 15min park run 8 TIMES in a row.
What a champion!
